Consultations

Individual consultation sessions can be arranged for a variety of reasons. Consultation can be provided when families wish to discuss their concerns, but are unsure if these concerns warrant further testing. Families may also wish to reach out regarding difficulties their children are facing in school.

Evaluations

Our evaluations are suited to best identify and address concerns that are specific to each individual. At EMK Psychology, we work with a variety of ages ranging from preschool to adults.

Child and Adolescent Evaluations

When assessing children and adolescents, we are here to work collaboratively with your child’s school or educational center to help provide the knowledge and support needed so that your child can progress successfully within the classroom.

Adult Evaluations

Evaluations can also be conducted for adults who are experiencing difficulties with learning or attention as well as for those who are seeking supports in college.  Recommendations can be provided to help assist in college or within the workplace.

Types of Evaluations

Psychoeducational Evaluations

An evaluation of an individual’s cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional functioning. This type of evaluation seeks to examine strengths and weaknesses as well as difficulties that the individual may be having within school. This type of testing may be shorter in length when compared to a neuropsychological evaluation.

School Neuropsychological Evaluations

A comprehensive assessment that applies neuropsychological principles and seeks to examine how an individual’s brain processes information and how their functioning may impact their learning. This type of evaluation goes beyond the scope of a psychoeducational evaluation and explores detailed strengths within various cognitive, academic, and behavioral functioning areas. Results from this evaluation can inform interventions and treatment planning. This type of evaluation is usually much longer due to its more in depth focus.

Evaluations for Giftedness

Gifted assessments are often sought out by parents who are interested in enrolling their child into specialized gifted programs. These programs often require certain criteria for admission including an assessment that identifies giftedness. An assessment may entail the use of cognitive testing as well as a measure of achievement. Parents may use the results of this evaluation to present to their desired public or private school program.

Educational Support

EMK Psychology provides support and guidance with IEPs and 504 plans.

Guidance can be provided on a case by case basis.
